Global Head of Procurement
Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is the world’s number one live theatre company, covering every discipline in the industry, including operating venues, managing major ticketing platforms and producing award-winning shows. Founded in 1992, they now own and operate 58 venues across Britain, the USA and Germany and look to invest in the long-term future of their venues. Within London’s West End, their iconic Lyceum Theatre is now in its twenty first year of hosting the multi-award winning “The Lion King” and the Apollo Victoria Theatre, the largest theatre in the West End has been presenting Wicked since 2006. Stanley Royce Jones were instructed to appoint a Global Head of Procurement, who could lead the entire purchasing and procurement function to ensure the global organisation was aligned. The unique nature of this role meant that the successful candidate would be involved in international sourcing projects, complex supplier negotiation and strategic influence over the direction of the customer proposition.
Following the detailed briefing, it was recognised that we would need to look at transferable skills and related sectors as the capability they were seeking did not exist within the theatre industry. As a result, we conducted an extensive search process, engaging with candidates across multiple consumer facing sectors, with a particular focus on leisure operators, hospitality businesses, travel, hotels and retailers. Our shortlist consisted of five candidates who all came from different sectors, but were all on the upward trajectory of their career and whose cultural fit aligned to the commercial, yet creative and people focused environment at ATG. The successful candidate had previously held global procurement roles for Merlin Entertainments, the UK’s leading attraction business and also Gate Group, suppliers of retail products to international airlines.
