Insomnia Cookies was launched in the US in 2003 by University of Pennsylvania student Seth Berkowitz, delivering delicious, warm cookies until 3a.m! The US business has grown to over 200 locations and is hugely successful. Working in partnership with UK industry leader Krispy Kreme, Insomnia Cookies are launching in the UK in 2023. Stanley Royce Jones were instructed to appoint a UK Managing Director with the entrepreneurial flair and food delivery expertise to deliver this rapid roll out.  

We conducted a comprehensive search process focussing on candidates with a proven track record in high growth, late night delivery operations, but with specific experience within the Manchester area, as this will be the launch pad for the UK business. Candidates needed to have the stakeholder management skills and gravitas needed to partner with a visionary Founder and navigate the challenge of adapting the brand for the UK market, without diluting it’s core foundations. They also required the strategic capability to have a clear long term vision but also still excel at the day to day operational execution. 

After a challenging interview process which included detailed assessment first by Stanley Royce Jones and then by both Insomnia Cookies and Krispy Kreme, Ben Lacey was appointed as UK Managing Director. Ben was Regional Director for Deliveroo in the North and had been at the heart of growing the business outside of London, during a period of exponential growth. Ben reported directly to their Founder, Will Shu so was exceptionally strong in this area, plus he had the intellect and drive needed to deliver Insomnia’s ambitious growth plans.
