London City Airport (LCY) is London's most central airport, close to Canary Wharf, only 20 minutes to the City of London and 30 minutes to the West End. In 2023, they welcomed over 3.4 million passengers, many of whom were attracted by the convenient location and uniquely rapid transit through the airport – reaching their gate in under 20 minutes and getting out of the airport in as little as five.
LCY has a very strong community focus, demonstrated by the 33% of new employees living in the borough of Newham and 83% living in the surrounding area. They also have a robust sustainability roadmap that will enable them to become London’s first airport to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 which will include 80% of passengers to and from the airport using sustainable modes of transport.
We were instructed by the CCO and CPO to appoint a Marketing Director who could support the deliver of growth for the business through both digital and brand marketing activities. Key areas of focus were to drive awareness and choice of the airport amongst London customers, promote the unique proposition and lead a team to deliver world-class brand and marketing activities.
Our search process focused on identifying candidates who had significant marketing expertise within fast paced, growth organisations. Knowledge of high volume, customer facing environments was essential, as was the ability to provide creativity and inspiration to the team. Our shortlist consisted of candidates who had experience of the travel sector, as well as candidates who came from other sectors and could demonstrate transferable skills, including, attractions, leisure and hospitality. The successful candidate, Anne-Laure Kujawski had worked within the high pressure, target driven health and fitness sector, so was experienced at delivering results within a fast paced, highly competitive marketplace.
