Their mission is to break down barriers to fitness for everyone in the UK, providing top-quality gyms and expert advice at affordable prices. They want to make sure that absolutely everyone feels welcome, whether a first time gym user at the very start of their wellness journey or someone looking to achieve a new personal best. All their gyms have high spec kit, plus a timetable packed full of free exercise classes that can be used as often as their members like.
We were briefed by the Chief People Officer to find a Head of Marketing & Communications who could lead the planning, development and implementation of the marketing strategy and act as the guardian of the brand across the business. The Gym Group were very open to considering candidates across a diverse range of high volume, customer facing sectors, including, health & fitness, retail and travel. The successful candidate was Gemma Schmid, who was previously Global Director of Brand Marketing at loveholidays, the UK’s fastest growing online travel agent and prior to that, she led the marketing department for online estate agent Purplebricks.
